Student Research

Not only does research help in furthering students' careers, it is instrumental to the future development of the Horticulture Center.

Jenna Rozum

As part of her Honors Credit, Jenna Rozum has created a perennial garden for identification purposes for the AGR 254: Herbaceous Plant class. The garden is established at the Horticulture Center. Jenna researched the material in order to design a garden to house shade, partial shade and sun loving plants. Jenna drew a formal landscape plan, aided in the ordering and collection of plant material and assisted in the installation of the plants.
Several individuals contributed to this project including, Casey’s Garden Shop and Green View Nursery.  We thank them for their hard work and plant material!

Andrea Brent

Andrea Brent is interested in floral crops.  In an opportunity to learn more about this aspect of horticulture Andrea has collaborated with The Three Petunias, a local floral crop grower and florist.  Andrea will establish 3 plots of zinnias at the Horticulture Center in order to grade green, white, and red zinnias.  She will study many different variables which include but are not limited to color, stem length, vase life, plant spacing, and disease resistance.
