The Horticulture Center has a diverse and loyal group of volunteers who help in a myriad of ways. This includes:
  • assisting staff in maintaining the gardens
  • helping with activities such as making plant tags for the garden or decorations for special events
  • assisting guests at events like the Autumnal Festival (taking admission, teaching children’s crafts, monitoring silent auction area, etc.)
  • aiding in the creation and collection of educational materials for the Center
  • giving tours to community members
  • interacting with the public in a friendly manner with knowledge of the center and its current and future plans

HORTICULTURE ASSISTANTS

Volunteers assist staff in maintaining the gardens. Some duties include watering, weeding, planting, pruning, mulching and record keeping.

EDUCATION ASSISTANTS

Volunteers may aid in the creation and collection of educational materials. Volunteers give tours to faculty, students, and community members. Interaction with the public would involve a positive and friendly manner with knowledge of the Center’s current and future plans.

SPECIAL EVENTS ASSISTANTS

Volunteers assist staff with special events that may occur throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to prepare for the events as well as during and after these events.

Volunteers assist staff by performing various duties that may include such things as helping with newsletters and making plant tags or signs.
