Annual Events

The Horticulture Center strives to establish and increase its programming for students, the Illinois State University community and residents of McLean County as it grows. The following is a schedule of the Center's activities.

Spring

Saturday, March 1 Home, Lawn and Garden Day

Sponsored by University of Illinois Extension-McLean County Master Gardeners 

8:00 am – 3:00 pm at Central Catholic in Bloomington

The Center will have an information booth and exhibit. 

                                 

Saturday, April 12   Illinois Sustainable Living & Wellness Expo

Sponsored by the Ecology Action Center and Illinois Wesleyan University

Saturday 9:00 — 4:00 pm Shirk Center, IWU

The Center will have an information booth and exhibit.

 

Friday, April 25      Arbor Day

The Horticulture Center celebrates all the trees that have been sponsored.          

 

 

Summer

ISU Day at the Cornbelters NOT SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME

Come join us in a pregame dinner, grab your hamburger while touring the gardens.

Reservations required.

Monday, June 30    Children’s Garden Party        

Come help plant the Children’s Garden, create a garden craft to take home, learn about some of the wacky things plants do, and enjoy refreshments.  Make sure to wear your gardening clothes!

5:30 – 7:30 pm

July 4        The 4th at the Hort

A private Independence Celebration for Friends of the Center, Volunteers and Staff         

 

Fall

 

Sept 27      Autmnal Festival - Around the World in 80 Days

Come and celebrate autumn with your family at our annual Autumnal Festival. Autumnal Festival Enjoy family activities, purchase your pumpkins and gourds, get lost in our corn maze and purchase your favorite scarecrow in our Scarecrows on Parade silent auction. Scarecrow  Fall Container

Nov TBA      Healthy You, Healthy Earth

ISU’s annual wellness and environmental fair

The goal of the event is to highlight the seven dimensions of wellness, to share information, provide resources, and educate those in attendance about healthy lifestyles and environmental stewardship. 

10:00 – 3:00pm Ballroom, Bone Student Center

The Center will have an information booth and exhibit.

          

                         

Nov TBA       Volunteer Celebration

A private celebration for Volunteers and Staff.
